12 Weeks

I know, I know. What happened to weeks ten and eleven?! Life, that's what. It's been a totally crazy, busy, stressful few weeks. Lots of personal stuff that I'm not going to share here. Nothing we can't handle with God's grace. Everyone is healthy though. Our little Who grows by the moment and our beautiful daughter is a constant joy (the joy isn't as pronounced at 2am, but still...). So here we are, week twelve!!!! I am both amazed and relieved to be here. Pregnancy wise, it's been smooth sailing, and I'm very much looking forward to the second trimester.

Our little Who is the size of a plum!

Cravings: Food!! It's just passed noon as I write this and I've already had a large fruit and veggie smoothie, a bowl of oatmeal, a bowl of cereal, a banana, a few crackers, and a tuna sandwich. Next I'm gonna have a few slices of an awesome crust-less quiche I made yesterday, and a salad. Always soooooo hungry!!

Physical changes: A real bump is definitely present. I also may have felt a tiny bit of fluttery movement! Although it could easily have been gas. I've made the switch to maternity clothes cause my regular wardrobe felt like it was strangling me. The nausea has subsided a bit though. Yay! I got through the majority of the fist trimester and only threw up once! Very grateful for that. I'm still pretty exhausted though. I feel like I need a nap after just vacuuming the living room. Last night I was sure I was going to fall asleep in my dinner. All of these symptoms are very reassuring. Really I don't mind a single one. Until I really start to feel movement, I welcome any amount of pregnancy discomfort the Lord bestows upon me. Happily.

Happy thoughts: God is so gracious to provide for us. We had a very stressful weekend and God mercifully eased my symptoms as we worked through it. He has given us such peace throughout this pregnancy. I CAN NOT WAIT to share this miracle with our extended family and friends this weekend at my birthday party. 30th birthday party!! My twenties went by crazy fast. I have a feeling I'm really gonna love my thirties.

In doctor news, I will be scheduled for an N.I.P.T. (or panorama test) to check for chromosomal issues. And, I have an N.T. scan on Monday, which is basically just an ultrasound to take measurements of the baby. Both tests are noninvasive and will give a good idea of what to expect later on. I really am not worried about either one. In fact I'm looking forward to the panorama test. It gives a very accurate gender prediction. So we should know who we're having a lot earlier than the average person. In addition to lots of testing, I will get monthly ultrasounds starting at 18 weeks, and see my doctor every two weeks from now on. I am being very closely watched. Since my last post I've already had a second ultrasound, and heard baby's heartbeat via Doppler (170bpm). All is well! God is good!
